My name is Katie, and my path to makeup artistry and face painting was a long and winding one! I was raised an Army brat and graduated from West Point in 2008. My first career was in the US Army as an officer in the Adjutant General’s Corps. After deciding to leave the military lifestyle, I earned my Master of Environmental Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Colorado Denver. In my studies, I focused on understanding ecosystems and the importance of sustainability in business. I truly thought that path was the end-all, be-all for me…but after starting a family, the pull of creating art (which was a fundamental part of my childhood) was too strong to ignore! I decided to start my career in facial artistry and enrolled as a student at Axel Makeup Academy to become a Certified Professional Makeup Artist.

As a Certified Professional Makeup Artist, I am an expert in sanitation, color theory, and product application. I take great care in providing every client a clean, comfortable, and customized experience. I also take into consideration the natural beauty and artistic preferences of every client. I use high quality products and have extensive knowledge in sustainable beauty. My personal belief is that there is no standard of beauty. My goal is to provide every person who sits in my chair an experience of self-care; having one’s makeup done or face painted should be a relaxing and enjoyable event!

I am local to Fairfax County and am a member of the Vienna Arts Society. In my spare time I enjoy tap dancing, watching TV, and being with my family.
